Gardner-Webb's Megan Reimer Named Big South Women's Soccer Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C,- The Big South Conference office announced today that Gardner-Webb sophomore midfielder Megan Reimer has been selected as the Big South Conference Choice Hotels Women's Soccer Player of the Week for games played for the week of Aug. 31st to Sept. 6th.

Reimer, from Hamilton, Ohio, recorded three goals in two games last week, leading the Lady Bulldogs to a 2-0-0 mark. She picked up her first goal of the season Thursday night as she sealed the 3-1 victory against USC Upstate. Her best performance came Saturday as she notched two markers in the 3-0 victory over The Citadel. She was able to strike in the 2nd minute and again in the 46th minute to put the Lady Bulldogs up 2-0. Her three goals on the week tripled her total from her freshman season in 2008.

Reimer becomes the first member of the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team to receive the award.

Also nominated for the award were Britney Horton from Presbyterian and Angela Redmond from VMI.

The Lady Bulldogs return to action this Friday as they host UT-Chattanooga as part of the Border Classic, sponsored by Gardner-Webb and Under Armour. The match is scheduled to take place at 7:00 pm at Greene-Harbison Field.
