GWU's Brusich Takes Third And Sets New School Record in the Heptathlon at the Liberty Open

Lynchburg, Va. - Gardner-Webb's Evan Brusich took third in the heptathlon with 4660 points at the 2010 Liberty Open in Lynchburg, Va. this weekend, as he was the lone Bulldog to compete in the event due to the snowy weather and hazardous road conditions.
The 4660 points was a new GWU indoor Track and Field record, surpassing the old record by 15 points.
With the heptathlon events starting on Friday afternoon, Brusich beat the snowfall up to Lynchburg and represented the Bulldogs well with four top-three finishes in the seven heptathlon events.
Brusich placed second in the 60 meter hurdles (8.75), third in the 60 meter dash (7.34), third in the 1000 meter run (2:45.12) and third in the high jump (1.86m).
Both the Gardner-Webb women's and men's track and field teams will return to action on February 12, as the Bulldogs will send individuals to three different events. GWU will have student-athletes compete at the Appalachian Limited in Boone, N.C., at the Tiger Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and at the UNC Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.
