RADFORD, Va. -
Gardner-Webb made just 2-of-20 shots from long distance Monday
night, and fell victim to a 23-6 run to open the game by Radford to
lose 75-45 in Big South Conference action.
Gardner-Webb (3-10, 0-3 Big South) dropped its 10th game in a row
in the process, and shot a frigid 29.5 percent from the floor
overall against the Highlanders (8-5, 4-0 Big South). GWU made only
18 of its 61 field goal attempts (8-of-32 in the second half) as
the defending league champs steadily pulled away.
Radford held leads of 14-2 and 23-6 in the early going, paced by
6-foot-11 center Art Parakhouski for much of the evening. The
native of Belarus finished with 26 points and 14 rebounds - hitting
10-of-12 shots from the floor. Lazar Trifunovic added 16 points and
Amir Johnson had 10 to join Parakhouski in double digits.
Gardner-Webb was paced by reserve wing Jonathan Moore, who played
23 minutes off the bench and scored a team-high 10 points to go
with six rebounds. C.J. Hailey added nine points, but the starting
backcourt trio of Hailey, Grayson Flittner and Anton Silver
combined to make just 7-of-28 shots in the game.
The Runnin' Bulldogs return home on Thursday, January 7, to host
Charleston Southern in another Big South Conference game. Opening
tip is set for 7:00 pm ET in Paul Porter Arena.
