
Runnin' Bulldogs Take Part in College of Charleston Invitational This Past Weekend

MT. PLESANT, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team participated in the College of Charleston Invitational this past weekend, facing members of the men's tennis teams from Appalachian State, Charlotte, and host College of Charleston.
Matthew Parker played well over the course of the weekend for the Runnin' Bulldogs, defeating John Harden of College of Charleston (6-4, 6-4) and Chris Hyynh of Charlotte (6-3, 6-3), but fell to Ezekiel Sansing of Appalachian State (6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4). He also picked up a doubles win with Andrew Carter, defeating the duo of Chris Mauch and Matt Saltsgaver of Appalachian State (8-5).
Also picking up wins during the weekend in singles play were Andrew Veeder over Victor Theorin of Charlotte (6-3, 6-3), Korhan Ural Ates over Anthony Davison of Charlotte (6-4, 7-6 (5)), and Blake Vail over Russ Ferrari of Appalachian State (6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (7)).
The duo of Korhan Ural Ates and John DeVose also picked up a doubles win, defeating the team of Anthony Davison and Krzysztof Kwasniewicz of Charlotte (9-7).
The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team will next be in action the weekend of November 5th-8th as they take part in the Crimson Tide Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Alabama.
