
GWU Cross Country Wraps Up Season at NCAA Southeast Regionals

Louisville, Ky. - The Gardner-Webb men's and women's cross country teams wrapped up its 2010 season on Saturday at the 2010 NCAA Southeast Regional meet hosted by the University of Louisville at 'Tom' Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Runnin' Bulldogs, which had both teams finish in 34th-place overall in the team standings, competed against a regional meet field that included teams from the states of Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
In the women's 6k event, seniors Laura Scott and Diana Palka paced the Runnin' Bulldogs, as Scott finished in 186th-place overall with her time of 23:32.50, while Palka crossed the finish line in 201st-place with a time of 23:58.20.
GWU's Elisabeth Sawyer turned in a time of 24:06.60 to finish in 206th-place, while sophomore Ariel Zimmerman and senior Lia Hudak rounded out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs with their times of 24:41.50 and 25:12.40, respectively.
In the men's 10k event, as he has done all season long, freshman Mike McClay led the Runnin' Bulldogs with a time of 35:07.05 to place in 189th-place overall.
Sophomore Josiah Stanton-Brooks was the next Runnin' Bulldog to cross the finish line, finishing with a time of 35:48.56 to place 205th overall, while senior Justin Cole placed 223rd overall with his time of 37:52.80.
Rounding out the field for Gardner-Webb in the men's 10k was a trio of freshmen in Justin Loy, Trey Crook and Drew Ford. Loy paced the trio with a time of 38:38.08, finishing just ahead of Crook and his time of 38:49.97 and Ford at 40:15.80.
