
Moore, Davis Earn Big South Weekly Basketball Honors

CHARLOTTE - Gardner-Webb's Jonathan Moore and Luke Davis were each honored with weekly Big South Conference awards Monday by the league office.
Moore(Rogers, Ark. / Rogers HS) was named Big South Conference Player of the Week, and Davis (Raleigh, N.C. / Ravenscroft School) was named Big South Conference Freshman of the Week after strong performances last week in wins over Charlotte and Mary Washington.
Moore averaged 17.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in the two wins, including a team-high 24 points and nine boards in the win at Charlotte. In that game, Moore made 6-of-11 shots from the floor and 10 free throws - including 4-of-6 in the final two minutes to seal the 78-70 victory. Moore added 11 points in just 19 minutes in the win over Mary Washington Saturday night.
Davis became the first freshman to start at game at point guard for Gardner-Webb since 2002, and directed the Runnin' Bulldogs to a pair of wins. He had eight points and two steals despite foul trouble at Charlotte, then followed with 12 points and a game-high six assists in the win over Mary Washington. The former All-State player at Ravenscroft (N.C.) School averaged 10 points, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals for the week, in addition to hitting a sizzling 66.7 percent of his shots from the floor and 75.0 percent from the charity stripe.
Gardner-Webb (2-0) continues its brutal early season schedule on Tuesday night at ACC contender Florida State (2-0), with tip set for 7 pm ET in Tallahassee. The game will be televised live on Fox Sports Florida and will also air live on WGWG-FM (88.3), with Fabian Fuentes providing the call from courtside.
GWU returns home on Thursday, Nov. 18, to host Virginia Intermont (7:00 pm).
