Monique Hudson Tabbed Big South Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Monique Hudson has been named the Big South Conference Women's Basketball Choice Hotels Player of the Week for games played the opening weekend of the regular-season, the League announced today.
Hudson, a senior from Rocky Mount, N.C., averaged 19 points per contest on 45 percent shooting to lead her squad to a 2-0 record last week. The guard got her week started with a career-high 25 points as she connected on 47 percent from the floor, 3-of-6 from downtown and was a perfect 6-of-6 from the line as the Runnin' Bulldogs downed Wofford on Nov. 12. She also chipped in six boards and one assist against the Terriers. Three days later in Gardner-Webb's home opener, Hudson accounted for 13 points, including 11 in the first half, as she finished the night with a 42 percent clip from the floor and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe in GWU's win over Montreat College. She also added six rebounds, six helpers and two steals in the win.
The weekly conference award is Hudson's first of this season and second of her career.
Also nominated for women's basketball Player of the Week for Week 1: Lakeitha Alston (Charleston Southern), Jurica Hargraves (High Point), Jelena Antic (Liberty), Kaylyn Crosier (Radford), Lindsay Thompson (UNC Asheville) and Lacey Lyons (Winthrop).
