CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Gardner-Webb sophomore DJ
Hughes (Snellville, Ga.) has been selected as the Coastal
Collegiate Swimming Association (CCSA) Men's Swimmer of the Week
for meets competed Nov. 15-21, it was announced today by the
League.
Hughes swam eight career-best times and was a finalist in three
events at the competitive Georgia Tech Invitational this past
weekend. In the 200 IM (1:54.66) and 100 freestyle (46.80), Hughes
moved up to first-place in the CCSA's top-times this season. He is
also second in the 100 fly with a time of 50.56 and third in the
200 fly, clocking 1:53.86 on the top-16 list. Hughes also helped
the Runnin' Bulldogs in four relays with career-best splits in
three of the four events.
Hughes becomes the second Runnin' Bulldog to earn Men's Swimmer
of the Week honors, as freshman Jordan
Denmark received the honors for the week of Nov. 1-7.
Also nominated for Men's Swimmer of the Week for Week 7: Patrick
Foos (College of Charleston).
Gardner-Webb will next be in action from December
2nd-4th as they participate in the Short
Course Nationals in Columbus, Ohio.
