Three Runnin' Bulldogs Score in GWU's 3-0 Win Over Presbyterian College

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's soccer team had three different players score en route to a 3-0 home win over the visiting Presbyterian College Blue Hose in Big South Conference play on Tuesday night at Greene-Harbison Field.
Gardner-Webb got on the board early in the first half, as freshman Nicolas Wrobel received a pass from fellow teammate Richie Wall in front of the net and then placed the ball past a PC's diving goalkeeper William Redmond in the 15th minute to put the home team up early at 1-0.
The Runnin' Bulldogs doubled up its lead in the 48th minute, as this time Wall punted the ball toward the goal from 30 yards out. The ball was misplayed by Redmond and sailed over the head of the PC goalkeeper and into the back of the net for Wall's first goal of the season.
Up 2-0, GWU added an insurance goal in the 74th minute, as freshman Stephen Maxwell dropped the ball off to fellow freshman Chris Davis at the top of the 18-yard box. The pass lined Davis up perfectly for a shot, which he blasted just inside the left front post and out of the reach of new PC goalkeeper James Neal to give the Runnin' Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.
The GWU defense held strong for the entire 90 minutes of play on Tuesday night, holding the Blue Hose to 10 shots for the match.
Gardner-Webb goalkeeper Adam Garcia was big in goal for the Runnin' Bulldogs, as the junior garnered five saves for the match, picking up his sixth shutout of the season.
The Runnin' Bulldogs outshot the Blue Hose 24-10 and were much more physical throughout the match, receiving 17 foul calls to Presbyterian College's five.
Wrobel's goal was his seventh of the season, while Davis tallied his third goal of the year. Wall picked up both his first goal and first assist on the night, while Maxwell posted his first assist on the year.
All six of the Runnin' Bulldog wins this season have been shutouts.
Gardner-Webb (6-10, 4-3 Big South) will play its final regular season match this Friday night, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will host the Radford Highlanders at 7 p.m. at Greene-Harbison Field in Boiling Springs, N.C.
Presbyterian College will play its final match of the season on Saturday afternoon, as the Blue Hose will take on the VMI Keydets at 12 p.m. in Lexington, Va.
