Runnin' Bulldogs Lose Leading Scorer Jon Moore To Injury

BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb has lost leading scorer Jon Moore indefinitely to an injury suffered in Saturday's game at Arizona State.

Moore, a 6-foot-4 senior from Rogers, Ark., went down with just under 17 minutes to play at Arizona State and did not return. He is schedule to have surgery on Dec. 15 and will begin rehabilitation with hopes of returning sometime during Big South Conference play.

"Anyone who has followed us this season knows Jon's significant value to our team, but I am most disappointed for Jon because this is his senior season and he was off to a terrific start," said GWU head coach Chris Holtmann. "He was really enjoying playing. Jon will continue to be an important part of our team as he has surgery and works in rehab. I have full confidence that we will see Jon Moore in a Runnin' Bulldog uniform again this season."

Moore's impact on the floor was significant for the Runnin' Bulldogs. He leads the team with an average of 15.5 points and earned All-Subregional honors in Williamsburg, Va., as part of the 2010 Legends Classic. Moore also ranks second on the team with 4.9 rebounds per game and had made a team-high 50 free throws in 13 games played.

He averaged 10.0 ppg as a junior for the Runnin' Bulldogs in 2009-2010.

Gardner-Webb (6-7) wraps up a 10-game road swing on Saturday, Dec. 18, at 20th-ranked Louisville. The Runnin' Bulldogs and Cardinals will tip off at 3:30 pm.
