
GWU Women's Basketball Rolls Past Tennessee Temple, 88-40

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs used a total team effort on both ends of the floor to defeat the Tennessee Temple Lady Crusaders 88-40 on Wednesday night in Paul Porter Arena.
The 48 point win ties the GWU Division I record for largest margin of victory, which was first set in a 48 point win over UVA Wise on November 17, 2008.
The Lady Crusaders scored first on a lay up by Kanetra Gonzalez to start the game off, yet the Runnin' Bulldogs answered with a lay up down low from freshman center Catrina Green only seconds later to tie the score up with 19:37 to play.
That would be the closet the game would get, as the Runnin' Bulldogs held the Lady Crusaders to only six total made baskets in the first 20 minutes of play en route to running out to a 47-13 halftime lead.
The Lady Crusaders never got closer then 32 points in the second half, as the Runnin' Bulldogs executed its offense efficiently and effectively, as 11 different players scored, while the Runnin' Bulldogs as a team shot 57.9 percent from the floor, the highest in a single game in the program's 10-year Division I history.
The Runnin' Bulldogs were also on fire from behind the three-point line, as the home team knocked down 7-of-9 from downtown, a clip of 77.8 percent, also the highest mark in a single game in its Division I history.
Gardner-Webb also tied team game high record marks with 23 team assists, which is tied for the fourth most in the program's Division I history, picked up 18 team steals, which is tied for the third most in a single game in GWU's Division I history.
For the game, GWU outscored Tennessee Temple 48-16 in points in the paint, 29-10 in points off turnovers, 16-1 in second chance points, 22-8 in fast break points and 41-14 in bench points.
Freshman guard Jasmine Dale had a career-high 19 points, five rebounds and two steals to lead the Runnin' Bulldogs, as Dale was 5-of-7 from behind the three-point line.
Senior guards Dominique Hudson and Monique Hudson had 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Monique tied her career-high with nine steals in the win.
GWU's Green scored a career-high 12 points to go along with six rebounds, while Sierra Little posted career marks in points with 10, rebounds with eight and steals with three.
Guard Cherelle James led the Lady Crusaders with 18 points, on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor, while Shayla Wilson led the way with four rebounds.
Gardner-Webb (8-4) will host the No. 10 nationally ranked North Carolina Lady Tarheels on New Year's Eve, December 31st, at 3 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
Tennessee Temple (2-11) will host Virginia Intermont at 4 p.m. on New Year's Day.
