Lady Bulldogs Down Mountaineers, 6-1, In Women's Tennis Action Thursday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team continued to show its strong play Thursday afternoon, picking up a 6-1 win over Appalachian State at the Webb Tennis Complex.
The action kicked off with doubles play, and the Lady Bulldogs were victorious in all three matches.
In singles play, Erica White extended her undefeated streak to three matches, earning the 6-2, 6-4 win over Ellie Linsell at the No. 1 position. At the No. 2 spot, Ioana Oprea defeated Jennifer Ansari (7-6(4), 6-2). Rita Gouveia picked up a win in the No. 3 position over Caroline Maunch (6-4, 6-2). Ronia Hutterli came from behind to defeat Amanda Cash (0-6, 7-5, 6-2) in the No. 5 position, and Tavenner Black earned a victory over Laura Janke (6-0, 6-1) in the No. 6 spot.
Gardner-Webb improves its season record to 2-1, while the Mountaineers fall to 2-2.
The Lady Bulldogs return to action this Saturday as they face East Carolina at Chapel Hill, NC. The match is set to begin at 2:00 PM.
