
Lady Bulldogs Open Up Spring Season at Low Country Intercollegiate

Hilton Head, S.C. - The Gardner-Webb women's golf team teed-off its 2010 spring season this weekend, as the Lady Bulldogs competed in the Low Country Intercollegiate held on the South Course at the par 72, 5,814-yard Moss Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Lady Bulldogs finished 14th overall, turning in a combined two-round team score of 691, +115.
GWU was paced by freshman Meghan Allum, as she carded a two-day score of 163, +19, and a GWU low round of 80 on day one, to place in a tie at 35th-place overall.
Gardner-Webb's Hannah Hellyer turned in a combined score of 173, +29, to place tied for 60th overall, while fellow teammate Chelcia Petersen finished with a 174, +30, and in a tie at 63rd-place overall.
Sophomore Courtney Finocchairo finished the two-day event with a combined score of 181, +37, while junior Courtney Meyer had to withdraw from the tournament before the opening round.
Western Carolina won its fourth team championship of the season,
repeating as the Low Country Intercollegiate champion for a
second-straight season. The Catamounts won by two strokes over
James Madison which shot the lowest team round on Sunday at
309.
Natalie Wille of Augusta State earned individual medalist honors on
the third hole of a two-person playoff with Jillian Fraccola from
Richmond (holes played were the 18th, 1st, and 9th.
Gardner-Webb will return to the links on Monday, March 15, as the Lady Bulldogs will compete in the Winthrop Women's Intercollegiate tournament on March 15-16 in Rock Hill, S.C.
