
Gardner-Webb's Erica White Named Big South Women's Tennis Freshman of the Week

CHARLOTTE, NC - Gardner-Webb's Erica White has been named The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for matches played March 15-21, as announced today by the Big South Conference.
White, a freshman from Charleston, W.Va, went 4-1 in singles play and 3-2 in doubles action last week to lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 4-1 mark on the week. At the No. 1 singles position, she posted victories over Tessa Rheault of Erskine, 6-3, 6-3, Alex Whitehead of UNC Greensboro, 7-6 (4), 6-3, Salem Erni of North Greenville, 6-0, 6-0, and Alena Krutkina of Pfeiffer, 6-2, 6-2. In doubles play, she teamed with Kasey Ellis to defeat Rheault and Britton Bignon of Erskine, 8-6, and Erni and Katherine Shaw of North Greenville, 8-2, both at the No. 1 position. Against Pfeiffer at No. 2 doubles, White and her partner Tavenner Black downed Patty Dominguez and Maddy Billeter, 8-3.
This is the third time this season that White has received Big South Freshman of the Week honors. She received the award for matches played the weeks of February 8-14 and February 15-21.
The Lady Bulldogs will return to action Wednesday afternoon as they take on Big South foe UNC Asheville at 2:00 PM in Asheville, NC.
