Bulldogs Fall To Winthrop, 5-2, Wednesday Afternoon in Men's Tennis Action

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team hosted Big South Conference foe Winthrop Wednesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex, but fell to the Eagles by a 5-2 score.
Action began with doubles play, where the Bulldogs dropped all three matches to give Winthrop the doubles point.
In singles play, the Bulldogs picked up a pair of solid victories. At the No. 3 position, Rafael Altmayer defeated Dejon Bivens (6-2, 6-5) and Adam Knutsson-Sundblad defeated Guy Kubi (6-2, 6-4) at the No. 5 position.
At the No. 1 position, Evgeny Slesarev fell to Sergey Belov (7-5, 5-7, 6-4). The loss broke a string of fourteen consecutive singles match victories, with his last loss taking place on January 17th at NC State.
Gardner-Webb returns to action next Wednesday afternoon as they host conference foe Radford at 2:30 PM.
