
Gardner-Webb Falls to Appalachian State, 4-3, in Men's Tennis Action Wednesday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team fell to Appalachian State on Wednesday afternoon, by a score of 4-3.
Action began with doubles play, where the team of Evgeny Slesarev and Rafael Altmayer defeated Trent Constance and Peter Jacobs (8-6) in the No. 1 position to give the Bulldogs the early advantage, but the Mountaineers won the remaining two matches to earn the doubles point.
GWU evened things up at the beginning of singles play when Jeremie Tardif defeated Ezekiel Sansing (6-1, 6-4) in the No. 6 position, but Appalachian State quickly regained the advantage, earning a victory at the No. 4 position when Alain Humblet defeated Adam Knutsson-Sundblad (6-2, 6-1).
The Bulldogs once again tied the match when Evgeny Slesarev defeated Trent Constance (7-6 (7), 6-2) in the No. 1 position, yet the Mountaineers won matches in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions to seal the overall victory, yet Roman Piftor defeated Andrew McKinnon (7-6 (5), 6-4) to make the final score 4-3.
The Bulldogs will take some time off before returning to action on Saturday, March 13th as they travel to Atlanta, GA to take on Georgia State. The match is set to begin at 1:00 PM.
