CHARLOTTE - Gardner-Webb pitcher Adam Izokovic was named the Big
South Conference's Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week today by the
league office.
The Burns High graduate and former Post 82 American Legion standout
recorded a 0.75 ERA in 12 innings of relief work as GWU's workhorse
in two extra-inning games last week.
In the Bulldogs' 12-inning loss at USC Upstate last Wednesday,
Izokovic was the hard-luck loser despite allowing just three hits
and a run in four innings of work, with three strikeouts.
Two days later, the GWU sophomore delivered eight innings of
one-hit, shutout relief to pick up the win in his team's 15-inning
victory at Wofford. He fanned a career-best six hitters and retired
17 batters in a row until a one-out walk in the 15th inning, after
which he settled down to retire the side and get the win.
For the week, the side-arming righty was 1-1 with a 0.75 ERA in 12
innings of work, allowing four hits and one run, with nine
strikeouts and a .100 opponents' batting average.
