
Men's Tennis Earns 7-0 Victory Over ABAC on Senior Day

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team took on Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College on what was Senior Day at the Webb Tennis Complex Saturday afternoon, and the Bulldogs earned a 7-0 victory over the #6 ranked junior college in the nation.
Action began with doubles play, where the Bulldogs swept all three matches to earn the doubles point.
In singles play, Evgeny Slesarev defeated Romain Vielliard (6-0, 6-0) at the No. 1 position. Vielliard is currently ranked ninth in the nation for all junior college players in singles.
The Bulldogs picked up additional straight set victories in the No. 2- No. 6 positions, with Andrew Veeder, Rafael Altmayer, Roman Piftor, Jeremie Tardif, and Adam Knutsson-Sundblad each earning the victories.
Gardner-Webb's two seniors, Evgeny Slesarev and Rafael Altmayer were honored prior to the beginning of the match for their outstanding contributions to the men's tennis program during their four years at GWU.
The Bulldogs return to action Tuesday as they travel to Due West, SC to take on Erskine. The match is set to begin at 2:30 PM.
