
GWU's Boomhower Tabbed Big South Pitcher of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Cindy Boomhower has been named The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week for games played April 5-11, it was announced today by the Conference office.
Boomhower, a junior from Walhalla, S.C., recorded two wins and a
save as Gardner-Webb picked up four Big South Conference wins last
week. She posted a 0.00 ERA in 15 innings of work last week,
holding her opponents to a .137 batting average. Boomhower
surrendered only seven hits and two walks, while striking out 14
batters in three appearances. She picked up her first save of the
season in game one on Saturday against Coastal Carolina, pitching a
perfect seventh inning and striking out two to seal the 4-2 win for
GWU. In game two on Saturday, Boomhower went the distance to pick
up the shutout win, allowing five hits and striking out eight in
the 2-0 victory. In the series finale on Sunday, Boomhower threw
her second consecutive complete game shutout, surrendering only two
hits with no walks and four strikeouts in the win for the Lady
Bulldogs.
The award is Boomhower's first Big South Pitcher of the Week Award
and marks the first Lady Bulldog to receive a weekly conference
award this season.
Also nominated for Softball Pitcher of the Week: Caitlin Allen
(Charleston Southern), Tiffani Smith (Liberty) and Chelsea Kelly
(Radford).
