Men's Tennis Sweeps Erskine College Tuesday Afternoon

DUE WEST, SC - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team didn't drop a single set Tuesday afternoon in earning a 9-0 victory over Erskine College.
The match was played under NCAA Division II scoring rules were each match in singles and doubles play count for one point.
Action began with doubles play, where Andrew Veeder and Jeremie Tardif teamed up to defeat Nemanja Brcan and Fabio Ciarrucchi (8-5) at the No. 1 position. Adam Knutsson-Sundblad and Rafael Altmayer defeated Angelo Ciarrucchi and Vincent Chauvette (8-3) at the No. 2 position, and the team of Matthew Herrock and Roman Piftor defeated Ryan Miller and James Hoastson (8-1) at the No. 3 position to give Gardner-Webb the early 3-0 advantage.
Singles play was much of the same for the Bulldogs, as the team took all six matches to complete the 9-0 sweep. Veeder competed at the No. 1 position, defeating Caleb Barnes (6-3, 6-3). Earning victories in positions No. 2 thru No. 6 were Altmayer, Piftor, Tardif, Knutsson-Sundblad, and Matthew Parker.
Gardner-Webb returns to action Thursday afternoon as they take on fellow Big South Conference member UNC Asheville at 3:00 PM in Asheville, NC.
