
Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis to Honor Seniors Thursday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, NC- The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team will honor its two seniors Thursday afternoon during the team's final home match of the season against Coastal Carolina. Allie Mills and Kasey Ellis will be honored in a pre-match ceremony at the Webb Tennis Complex, with the match beginning at 1:30 PM.
Both Mills and Ellis had an immediate impact on the team with their tremendous work ethic and team-first attitudes.
Allie Mills, who came to Gardner-Webb from Spencer, NC, has currently won six singles matches and four doubles matches during her time in Boiling Springs. Mills has had a few huge victories in her time at Gardner-Webb, with her victory early in the season against NC Central being the deciding point in the match.
In the classroom, Mills has been outstanding, currently owning a cumulative GPA of 4.0 with a major in chemistry. She has earned All-Academic honors each year from the Atlantic Sun and Big South Conferences.
Kasey Ellis came to GWU from Charlotte, NC, and has currently won 23 singles matches and 33 doubles matches. In 2009, her 15 singles victories were best for the squad.
Ellis has also been superb in the classroom, having a cumulative GPA of 3.8 while majoring in business administration. She has also earned All-Academic honors from both the Atlantic Sun and Big South.
Gardner-Webb Head Coach had a few words to say about his senior class: "Both Allie and Kasey were not just good for the team, as they were good for the University as well. Both are high quality people with their team-first attitudes and their great work ethic. They both have been a real privilege and pleasure to coach and will be missed."
Thursday afternoon's match against Big South Conference foe Coastal Carolina will be the last home match for the Lady Bulldogs during the 2010 season, with the team wrapping up the regular season Saturday afternoon at Elon, before preparing for the 2010 Big South Tournament, which will take place from April 22nd-24th in Radford, Va.
