Lady Bulldogs fall to Coastal Carolina, 6-1, Thursday Afternoon in Women's Tennis Action

BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team fell to Big South Conference foe Coastal Carolina Thursday afternoon by a score of 6-1 at the Webb Tennis Complex.
Action began with doubles play, where the duo of Ioana Oprea and Rita Gouveia defeated Mary Hill and Paty Cortes (8-3) at the No. 2 position, yet Coastal Carolina won the remaining two matches to take the doubles point.
In singles play, the Chanticleers were too much for the Lady Bulldogs, as Coastal Carolina took five of the six matches to seize the overall victory. The lone victory for Gardner-Webb came as Erica White defeated Lexi Bolesky (4-6, 6-1, 10-6) at the No. 1 position.
Prior to the start of today's match, Gardner-Webb honored its two seniors, Allie Mills and Kasey Ellis for their contributions to the women's tennis program and university during their time at GWU.
The Lady Bulldogs wrap up the 2010 regular season Saturday afternoon as they travel to take on Elon. The match is set for a 1:00 PM start time.
