Lady Bulldogs Fall to Elon, 6-1, Saturday Afternoon in Women's Tennis Action

ELON, NC - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team fell to Elon University Saturday afternoon, losing by a 6-1 score at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Elon's campus.
Action began with doubles play, where the team of Ioana Oprea and Rita Gouveia defeated the team of Paige Kensrue and Hayley Wahl (8-3) at the No. 2 position, yet the Phoenix (16-7) took the remaining two matches to earn the doubles point.
In singles play, Gardner-Webb earned a victory at the No. 1 position, as Erica White defeated Anna Milian (6-2, 6-3), yet Elon won the remaining five matches to seize the overall victory.
The Lady Bulldogs finish the regular season with a 12-11 overall record, and 1-5 in Big South Conference play. The team will now set its sights on the Big South Conference tournament, which will take place April 22nd -24th at Radford University in Radford, Va.
