Lady Bulldogs Fall to Coastal Carolina, 4-0, in First Round of 2010 Big South Women's Tennis Championship

RADFORD, VA - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team's 2010 season came to an end Thursday afternoon, as the #6 Lady Bulldogs fell to the #3 Coastal Carolina Chanticleers in the first round of the 2010 Big South Women's Tennis Championship.
The match began with doubles play, where the team of Kasey Ellis and Erica White defeated Lexi Bolesky and Miki Buena (8-6) at the No. 1 position, yet the Chanticleers took the remaining two matches to earn the doubles point.
In singles play, Coastal Carolina immediately earned a victory at the No. 6 position, as Mary Hill defeated Tavenner Black (6-0, 6-0). The Chanticleers took two more matches at the No. 3 and No. 4 positions as Kim Webb defeated Rita Gouveia (6-1, 6-3) and Paty Cortes defeated Ellis (6-2, 6-2) to seal the overall victory for Coastal Carolina.
The singles matches at the No 1, No 2, and No. 5 positions were not completed as the overall match was already decided.
Coastal Carolina moves on to face #2 Winthrop Thursday afternoon in the tournament's semifinals.
