BOILING SPRINGS, NC - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team faced fellow Big South Conference member Radford Wednesday afternoon at the Webb Tennis Complex, and in what was a hard fought match, fell by a 5-2 score.
Action began with doubles play, where the team of Andrew Veeder and Jeremie Tardif defeated Zack Watson and Paul Boslet (9-7) at the No. 2 position, but the Bulldogs dropped the remaining two matches to give Radford the doubles point
In singles play, Evgeny Slesarev defeated Ivan Salec in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) at the No. 1 position. Salec, who is ranked #80 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), lost his first singles match since January, and had not lost to a Big South opponent all season.

The Bulldogs dropped the remaining singles matches to give Radford the overall victory.
Gardner-Webb will return to action Saturday morning as they host Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The match is set to begin at 9:30 AM at the Webb Tennis Complex, and will be Senior Day, as the team honors seniors Evgeny Slesarev and Rafael Altmayer.
