
Lady Bulldogs Defeat Western Carolina, 4-3, In Women's Tennis Action Tuesday Afternoon

BOILING SPRINGS, NC -The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team defeated Western Carolina Tuesday afternoon by a 4-3 score at the Webb Tennis Complex.
Action began with doubles play, where the Lady Bulldogs won matches at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions to claim the doubles point.
In singles play, Erica White defeated Iza Glinska (6-1, 6-2) at the No. 1 position and Tavenner Black defeated Emily Turko (6-3, 6-2) at the No. 6 position to give Gardner-Webb an early advantage.
At the No. 2 position, Ioana Oprea and Amanda Massey battled, with the match going into a tiebreaker in the second set, yet Oprea was able to earn the victory (6-2, 7-6 (7)) to give the Lady Bulldogs the overall victory. The victory was Oprea's fifth consecutive singles win.
The Lady Bulldogs will quickly turn around to face Campbell tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 PM in Buies Creek, NC.
