GWU's Evan Brusich Takes Ninth at the 2010 Deacon Combined Events Classic

Winston-Salem, N.C. - Gardner-Webb junior Evan Brusich took ninth-place with a total of 6230 points at the 2010 Deacon Combined Events Classic, a multi-event track meet, hosted by Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. on May 11-12.
On Tuesday afternoon, Brusich led off the decathlon with an eighth-place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.43. The junior then took 11th-place in both the long jump with a distance of 6.04 meters and the shot put with a toss of 10.31 meters.
Brusich then wrapped up action on Thursday evening with a ninth-place finish in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.80 meters, and then a fifth-place showing in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.77.
On Wednesday afternoon, Brusich kicked off day two of the decathlon with a time of 15.54 in the 110 meter hurdles, which was good enough for ninth-place overall. GWU's Brusich then took 10th in the discus event with a throw of 32.01 meters and then followed up with a fifth-place finish in the pole vault event, clearing the bar with a height of 4.12 meters.
Brusich wrapped up the two-day event on Wednesday night with an 11th-place finish in the javelin throw with a distance of 35.58 meters and a second-place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:46.45.
Brusich and the Bulldogs will return to action this weekend, as GWU will compete at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. on May 14-15.
