GWU's Steinke and Hutschalik to Compete at the 2010 NCAA East Regionals This Week

Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb track and field student-athletes Paul Steinke and Christoph Hutschalik will both compete this week at the 2010 NCAA East Regional meet on May 27-29 hosted by North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, N.C.
Steinke, a senior hurdler and sprinter from Green Cove Springs,
Fla., will compete in the 400 meter hurdles event this weekend.
Steinke, who finished in first-place in the 400 meter hurdles at
the 2010 Big South Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a
time of 52.17, finished in 14th-place last year at the east
regional meet with a time of 52.31.
Hutschalik, a redshirt-sophomore from Grossroehrsdorf, Germany,
will also be competing in his second straight NCAA East Regional
meet having finished in 15th-place in the hammer throw with a toss
of 56.07 meters last year. This season, Hutschalik surpassed his
own school record of 58.70 meters (192'7") in the hammer throw
event, turning in a mark of 59.05 meters (193'9") at the Georgia
Tech Invitational meet on May 14.
Both Steinke and Hutschalik will compete in the preliminaries on
Thursday, May 27.
