Gardner-Webb Junior Cindy Boomhower Tabbed Big South Pitcher of the Week

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Cindy Boomhower has been named The Crons Brand Pitcher of the Week for games played April 26-May 2, the Conference office announced it today.
Boomhower, a junior from Walhalla, S.C., went 2-1 last week with
two complete game wins that helped guide the Lady Bulldogs to their
first 20-win season since 2008. The righty highlighted her week
with a 2-1, nine inning win against Big South foe Winthrop on
Tuesday afternoon. She overcame a 56-minute lightning delay to go
the distance, allowing no earned runs on four hits and striking out
seven. For the week, Boomhower struck out 17 batters and allowed
two earned runs on 11 hits in 17 innings of action, and also held
her opponents to a .180 batting average. Boomhower's line last
week: 2-1, 17.0 IP, 11 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB, 17 SO, and 0.82 ERA.
The weekly award is Boomhower's second of the season, as she also
won the conference award on April 12.
