
Gardner-Webb's Evgeny Slesarev Finishes Season With ITA Regional Ranking

SKILLMAN, NJ - Gardner-Webb's Evgeny Slesarev has been ranked 19th in the 2010 season's final Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Carolina Region rankings.
Slesarev, who started the 2010 season ranked 19th, finished the year with a singles record of 19-3 and 15-10 in doubles play. He was named the 2010 Big South Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year and also earned first-team Big South honors for both singles and doubles play.
The Krasnoyarsk, Russia native ended his career at Gardner-Webb with 70 singles and 46 doubles victories, both school records at the Division I level.
"I am proud of what he as accomplished here at Gardner-Webb and he is very deserving of this honor," said GWU head coach Mike Griffith. "Evgeny has set the bar very high for our players for the future."
Slesarev will serve as an assistant coach for the men's tennis program next season as he completes his undergraduate degree requirements.
