
GWU Women's Team Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award

SKILLMAN, N.J. - The Gardner-Webb women's tennis team has been recognized for its success in the classroom by receiving a 2010 Division I All-Academic Team award from the International Tennis Association (ITA). In addition to the team award, five members of the team were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.
A total of 72 Division I programs were recognized as women's 2010 ITA All-Academic teams.
In order to be nominated, the team must have a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.200 or higher.
The members of the GWU women's tennis team that were awarded ITA Scholar-Athlete honors were Tavenner Black, Kasey Ellis, Rita Gouveia, Allie Mills, and Ioana Oprea.
In order to be nominated for the ITA Scholar-Athlete award, the student-athlete must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade-point average of 3.500 or higher, and must have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
