
GWU Announces 2010-2011 Men's Basketball Schedule

BOILING SPRINGS - Gardner-Webb announced its 2010-2011 men's
basketball schedule Monday, with another challenging slate on tap
for the first year of the Chris Holtmann era.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will host 11 home games this season,
opening the campaign with Mary Washington on Saturday, November 13
in Paul Porter Arena.
"We are excited about our first year together as a team and
the challenges ahead," said Holtmann. "Obviously Gardner-Webb has
always been about playing some of the best and most accomplished
basketball programs in the country and this year is no
different."
The traditionally strong non-conference slate will begin with
a trip to ACC member Florida State on November 16, and will also
include road dates with Michigan (Nov. 21), Oklahoma (Dec. 9),
Arizona State (Dec. 11) and Louisville (Dec. 18). The Runnin'
Bulldogs will also play Mercer, Western Carolina, William &
Mary and Elon away from home in non-conference action. The Michigan
game (Ann Arbor, Mich.) and the games with Mercer, Western Carolina
and William & Mary (Williamsburg, Va.) are part of the 2010
Legends Classic.
The 'Dogs will play a grueling 11 of its first 13 games of the
season away from Paul Porter Arena.
GWU opens Big South Conference play on the road at High Point
(Dec. 2) and Radford (Dec. 4), and will open its home league
schedule on New Year's Eve at 5:30 pm vs. Liberty.
"We are really looking forward to how this very challenging
non-conference schedule prepares us for the Big South Conference,"
Holtmann added. "We will be away from home a large part of the
first semester, so we are anxiously awaiting playing in front of a
great group of fans when league play continues on December 31 in
Paul Porter Arena."
