
Gardner-Webb Men's Tennis Has Impressive Outing in GWU Fall Classic

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb men's tennis team hosted the annual GWU Fall Classic this past weekend, hosting participants from Presbyterian College and Wofford College. The Runnin' Bulldogs did well during the two-day event, winning the majority of their matches.
Sophomore Adam Knutsson-Sundblad had an outstanding weekend, going 3-0 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles play. In singles play, he defeated Thomas Fanjoy of Wofford (6-1, 6-3), Randall Heffron of Wofford (6-0, 6-2), and Grayson Mills of Presbyterian College (1-6, 6-3, 10-8). In doubles play, he teamed with freshman Aaron Baker to defeat Elliott Farmer and Zach Landry of Wofford (8-1), and teamed with sophomore Matthew Parker to defeat Tom Wood and Heffron (8-6), but fell to the team of Nathan Crocker and Ryan Walters of Presbyterian College (8-6) when teaming with freshman Blake Vail.
Baker went 2-1 in both singles and doubles play, defeating Jack Seiffert of Wofford (7-6 (2), 6-4), and Ryan Walters of Presbyterian College (5-7, 6-1, 10-7), but fell to Joey Francis of Wofford (4-6, 6-4, 6-3). In addition to his doubles win with Knutsson-Sundblad, he teamed with Vail to defeat Seiffert and Manoli Lakis of Wofford (9-8(3)).
Parker went 2-1 in singles play during the weekend, defeating Wofford's Farmer (6-1, 6-2) and Crocker of Presbyterian College (6-3, 6-4), but fell to Wood of Wofford (6-2, 6-0). Parker's lone doubles victory came when he teamed with Knutsson-Sundblad.
Gardner-Webb men's tennis will return to action on Friday, October 8th as they participate in the Davidson Fall Tournament.
