
Gardner-Webb Women's Soccer Set To Begin Big South Conference Play This Weekend

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - With the non-conference portion of the schedule complete, the Gardner-Webb women's soccer team is prepared to begin the 2010 Big South Conference schedule this weekend, traveling to Rock Hill, S.C. to take on Winthrop.
The Runnin' Bulldogs enter conference play with an overall record of 3-5-2 after falling to George Washington this past Friday afternoon by a 1-0 score in Washington, D.C.
Following the non-conference portion of the schedule, junior forward Megan Reimer, who has scored three goals thus far, leads GWU offensively. Junior forward Dawn Rollyson leads the squad with two assists. In goal, junior goalkeeper Chelsea Hearne has earned a goals-allowed average of 0.75, with a save percentage of 0.854 and five shutouts.
Saturday evening, the Runnin' Bulldogs take on Winthrop to begin Big South play. Winthrop enters the weekend with a record of 0-7-1 following a 2-1 loss in overtime at South Carolina State this past Wednesday evening. The Eagles are led offensively by senior Tricial Vensel, who has two goals and two assists thus far.
The Runnin' Bulldogs won last year's meeting between the two squads by a 2-0 score. Gardner-Webb is 5-1 all-time against Winthrop at the Division I level.
Following this weekend's contest, Gardner-Webb will be on the road the following weekend, taking on High Point on October 9th and Liberty on October 11th, before returning home to Greene-Harbison Field to host VMI on October 15th and Radford on October 17th.
