GWU's Hutschalik and Long Earn Big South Weekly Honors

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Christoph Hutschalik and Carrie Long were tabbed the Men's and Women's Indoor Field Athletes of the week, the League announced today.
Hutschalik, a redshirt senior from Grossroehrsdorf, Germany, set a school record and finished second with a throw of 17.9 meters in the weight throw at Appalachian State. Hutschalik's mark places him in second-place overall in the weight throw event in the Big South Conference.
Long, a senior from Franklin, N.C., turned in a second-place finish at Appalachian State in the pole vault as she cleared a height of 3.51 meters, which currently sits first in the Big South Conference overall.
Hutschalik and Long's second-place finishes headlined a strong GWU team performance, as the Runnin' Bulldogs posted 19 top-10 finishes at the Mountaineer Open last Saturday in Boone, N.C.
Gardner-Webb will return to action on January 28-29th, as both the men's and women's track & field teams will compete at the Liberty Open hosted by Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.
