Gardner-Webb Women's Tennis Opens 2011 Season With 4-3 Win Over Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. - The Runnin' Bulldogs won four singles matches to earn a 4-3 win over Davidson to kick off the 2011 season Saturday afternoon in women's tennis action.
Action began with doubles play, in which the Wildcats (1-1) won two of the three matches to earn the point.
Gardner-Webb (1-0) fought back in singles play, earning wins in the top three positions, as Erica White defeated Stephani Synn (6-2, 6-0), Ioana Oprea defeated Ailson Rauh (7-5, 6-1), and Laura Kriett defeated Nisha Crouser (6-3, 7-5).
GWU earned the overall victory with Ronia Hutterli's win at the No. 5 position, defeating Frizzi Bschorer (6-1. 6-3).
Saturday's win for Gardner-Webb marked the first time in the program's history that they earned a victory over Davidson.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will take some time off before returning to action, hosting Charlotte on Thursday, February 10th. The match is set to begin at 2:30 PM at the Webb Tennis Complex.
