Boiling Springs, N.C. - Gardner-Webb sophomore center Catrina Green was recently named to the Madness Big South All-Conference Preseason Second-Team by College Sports Madness (www.collegesportsmadness.com).
Green, who shot a team-high 52.6 percent from the floor last season as a freshman for GWU, joined fellow sophomores Dequesha McClanahan of Winthrop, Emily Frazier of Liberty, Karlee Taylor of Presbyterian College and Cheyenne Parker of High Point on the preseason second-team.
The first-team consisted of Avery Warley of Liberty, Devon Brown of Liberty, Shamia Brown of High Point, Da'Naria Erwin Spencer of Radford and Tonisha Baker of Campbell.
Green, who is one of only seven returners from last season's championship team, averaged 5.1 points and 4.3 rebounds last season as a true freshman playing behind redshirt-senior Sandra Vaitkute.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will open up their 2011-12 season on the road, as GWU will take on North Carolina at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 12th, in Chapel Hill, N.C.
