
Gray's First-Place Finish Leads the Runnin' Bulldogs to a Second-Place Team Finish at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate

Morganton, N.C. - Gardner-Webb senior golfer Kristopher Gray carded a 203, -7 under par, to finished tied for first-place overall and help lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to second-place team finish at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate at the par-70, Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club in Morganton, N.C.
Gardner-Webb as a team improved each and every round over the two-day event, posting rounds of 296, 284 and 278 to finish with a three-round combined team score of 858, +18, placing the Runnin' Bulldogs in second-place overall and only five strokes behind the tournament champion Lynn University (853, +13).
Gray was solid throughout the tournament, as he posted back-to-back rounds of 67, -3 under par, on Monday to head into day two of play tied for second-place overall with a score of 134, -6 under par. On Tuesday, Gray followed up with a third-round 69, -1 under par, to finish the tournament tied for first-place overall with a score of 203, -7 under par.
Also recording a top-10 finish for GWU was Daniel Kim, as the junior bounced back from a first round 75, to shoot a 69, -1 under par, for both the second and third rounds of the event to put him in eighth-place overall with a three-round combined score of 213, +3.
GWU's Daley Byles and Matt Yelverton each posted scores of 222, +12, for the two-day event to finish tied for 28th-place overall, while redshirt-senior J.J. Regan rounded out the scoring for the Runnin' Bulldogs with a combined score of 230, +20, to place in a tie for 49th-place overall.
The GWU men's golf team will wrap up its 2011 fall season in two weeks, as the Runnin' Bulldogs will compete at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina on October 31st through November 1st.
