
GWU Volleyball's Feldman and Cockrell Earn Big South Weekly Honors

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb's Heather Feldman was tabbed the CRONS Brand Freshman of the Week, while sophomore middle blocker Tyler Cockrell picked up Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played Oct. 24-30, the League announced today.
Feldman, a setter from Eden, N.Y., posted 111 assists, 8.54 assists per set, 14 kills, 26 digs and a block to help her squad to a 2-1 record last week. At Wofford on Oct. 25, she handed out 28 helpers and notched two kills and eight digs as Gardner-Webb downed the Terriers, 3-1. Three days later against High Point, Feldman dished out 35 assists as well as nine digs, two aces and three kills to lift the Runnin' Bulldogs to the 3-1 win. She closed her week out with 48 assists, nine kills, nine digs and a block in a narrow 3-2 loss to Campbell. The honor marks her first Big South Freshman of the Week nod this season.
Cockrell, a sophomore from Tulsa, Okla., recorded 20 blocks, 1.54 blocks per set and 10 digs for Gardner-Webb last week. She got her week started with six rejections and five digs in the win over Wofford and followed with four blocks and four digs in Gardner-Webb's 3-1 win over High Point. She closed her week out with 10 blocks and a dig in Gardner-Webb's match with Campbell. The honor is her first Defensive Player of the Week plaudit this season.
The Runnin' Bulldogs (9-16, 4-6 Big South) will look to get back on the winning track this weekend, as GWU will take on Presbyterian College on Friday night at 7 p.m. in Clinton, S.C.
