GWU Runners Earn Big South All-Academic Honors

Charlotte, N.C. - Gardner-Webb runners Mike McClay and Elizabeth Glunk were honored with All-Academic Honors by the Big South Conference for the 2011 cross country season, the League announced.
Glunk, a redshirt junior from Carrolton, Va., carries a 3.75 GPA, majoring in English for Speakers of Other Languages. Glunk has proven to be a valuable leader for coach Brian Baker both on and off the trail over her career as a cross country runner for Gardner-Webb. Glunk finished the 2011 season on a high note, breaking the 20:00 barrier in the 5K for the first time in running a personal best time of 19:46 at the 2011 Big South Conference Championships.
McClay, a sophomore from Lawrenceville, Ga., carries a 3.6 GPA as a Religious Studies major. McClay has enjoyed a prolific season in this his second with Gardner-Webb cross country. McClay won the UNC Season Preview 5K race on Sep. 2 in a personal best 14:55, and closed the season with a personal best time of 25:14 in the 8K race at 2011 Big South Conference Championships.
