
GWU's Kristopher Gray Posts Top-Five Finish, as Runnin' Bulldogs Place Sixth at the Joe Agee Invitational

Williamsburg, Va. - Senior Kristopher Gray posted a combined score of 221, +5, to place in a tie for fourth-place overall and to help lead the Runnin' Bulldogs to a sixth-place overall team finish at the Joe Agee Invitational hosted by William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
The Runnin' Bulldogs carded team rounds of 311, 300 and 300, to finish the two-day and three-round event with a combined team score of 911, +47, placing them in sixth-place overall and just ahead of the host institution William & Mary who took seventh.
Gray, who carded a first round 80, +8, bounced back to card rounds of 70 and 71, to finish tied for fourth-place overall with a three round score of 221, +5. The senior was near the top of all statistical categories for the tournament, posting eight birdies and a par-five scoring average of 4.75, -3 under par.
Junior Daniel Kim turned in rounds of 75, 73 and 79 to place in a tie for 17th-place overall with a combined score of 227, +11. Kim posted a par-four scoring average of 4.20, +6, the eighth best average among the tournament field for the two-day event.
Redshirt-sophomore Daley Byles, who posted a par-four scoring average of 4.23, +7, recorded rounds of 76, 79 ad 74 to finish the tournament with a combined score of 229, +13, and in a tie for 27th-place overall.
Rounding out the scoring for GWU was freshman Matt Yelverton and sophomore Steven Jones. Yelverton, who led the tournament field with a par-three scoring average of 2.67, -4 under par, finished in 44th-place overall with a combined score of 236, +20, while Jones, placed in a tie for 59th-place with his score of 244, +28.
Longwood University won the tournament, posting a combined team score of 871, +7, finishing 26 strokes ahead of the second-place team in Old Dominion University, who finished with a combined team score of 897, +33.
The Runnin' Bulldogs will return to action in a little under two weeks, as GWU will take part in the Donald Ross Intercollegiate hosted by Appalachian State on October 17-18th.
