
GWU's Meghan Allum Earns Top-10 Finish, as the Runnin' Bulldogs Finish Tied for Eighth Overall at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic

Greensboro, N.C. - Gardner-Webb junior Meghan Allum finished in a tie for ninth-place overall and helped to lead the women's golf team to a tie for eighth-place overall in the team standings at the three-day UNCG Starmount Fall Classic hosted at the par-72, 6,265-yards, Starmount Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.
The Runnin' Bulldogs as a team carded rounds of 321, 313 and 313 to finish the three-day event tied with Charleston Southern with a three round combined score of 947, +83, nine strokes behind the seventh-place finisher in James Madison.
Allum paced the Runnin' Bulldogs, as she turned in rounds of 76, 76 and 74 to finish the three-day event with a team-low combined score of 226, +10, good enough to place her in a tie for ninth-place overall.
Fellow junior Hannah Hellyer was consistent over the three rounds, recording scores of 79, 77 and 78 to finish in a tie for 23rd-place overall with a combined score of 234, +18.
Senior Courtney Finocchiaro turned in her best tournament thus far of the fall season, carding rounds of 81, 78 and 80 to place in a tie for 37th-place overall with a three round combined score of 239, +23.
Rounding out the scoring for GWU was juniors Sammy Vass and Lauren Smith. Vass shot a combined three round score of 253, +37, to finish tied for 64th-place overall, while Smith, GWU's top golfer in the previous two tournaments, finished in 70th-place overall with her score of 257, +41.
Maryland won the event, posting a combined team score of 901, +37, finishing seven strokes ahead of the second-place team East Tennessee State, who finished with a score of 908, +44.
GWU will return to competition next weekend, as the lady golfers will compete at the Winthrop Intercollegiate on October 8-9th.
