GWU IN HOME OPENERS
GWU is 6-5 (.545) overall in home openers since 2000-01. Under
Head Coach Rick Reeves, the Runnin' Bulldogs are 5-2 (.714) in home
openers.
SERIES VS. KENNESAW STATE
This is the eighth meeting between these two teams since 2000-01,
with the Runnin' Bulldogs holding on to a slight 4-3 series
advantage. Three of GWU's previous seven meetings with the Lady
Owls have been in non-conference play, in which GWU is 2-1
overall. In the other four meetings, the two teams were Atlantic
Sun Conference foes and split the series at 2-2. Gardner-Webb won
the last meeting, 59-48, last year in Kennesaw, Georgia on December
2nd. GWU is 2-0 at home in Paul Porter Arena versus the Lady
Owls.
LAST TIME OUT
The Runnin' Bulldogs suffered a very tough season opening loss last
Saturday afternoon, as GWU fell at #20/#19 North Carolina, 109-44,
in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Runnin' Bulldogs hung tight with the Tar
Heels for the first 10 minutes of play, however, North Carolina's
size, athleticism and experience proved to be too much for the
young Runnin' Bulldogs who had seven players wear the GWU jersey
for the very first time. Gardner-Webb got 10 points from both KiKi
Smith and Catrina Green in the loss.
