SERIES VS. APPALACHIAN STATE
This is the fifth meeting between these two teams since GWU moved
to NCAA Division I in 2000-01, as GWU and Appalachian State have
faced off once in each of the last four years. GWU, who leads the
series 3-1, had posted three straight wins over the Mountaineers
from 2007-2009. However, last year the Runnin' Bulldogs fell at
Appalachian State, 98-68, in GWU's third game of the season. The
Runnin' Bulldogs are 2-0 versus the Mountaineers at home in Paul
Porter Arena.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME
Over the last three seasons, GWU posted an 36-8 (.818) record at
home in Paul Porter Arena. This year, GWU is already 0-1 on the
year at home.
A RARITY FOR THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
GWU's 0-2 start this season is the Runnin' Bulldogs first 0-2 start
since 2005-06.
LAST TIME OUT
Gardner-Webb sophomore center Catrina Green and freshman forward
Jessica Heilig each scored double-digit points, as the Runnin'
Bulldogs fell to Kennesaw State, 68-48, in Gardner-Webb's 2011-12
home opener in Paul Porter Arena on Tuesday night. The Runnin'
Bulldogs fall to 6-6 in home openers since 2000-01 and start the
season at 0-2 for the first time since 2005-06. The Lady Owls
improve to 1-1 on the year with the win. Gardner-Webb committed 22
turnovers, which led to 21 Kennesaw State points, and allowed the
Lady Owls to pull down 20 offensive rebounds which led to 23 second
chance points. The Gardner-Webb bench outscored the Lady Owls bench
18-5; however, the Lady Owls held an advantage in both points in
the paint (36-28) and in fast break points (12-4).
COVERAGE OF THE CONTESTS
The game will be video streamed live over the Big South Network,
