GWU TOURNAMENT NOTES
GWU will take on two new opponents for the first-time at the 2011
Junkanoo Jam. Gardner-Webb is 0-6 versus the ACC, 1-4 versus the
Big Ten with a 56-55 win at Purdue in 2009-10, and 0-1 against the
PAC12.
RUNNIN' BULLDOGS AGAINST THE TOP-25 IN THE
NATION
Against top-25 nationally ranked opponents, Gardner-Webb is 0-6
overall, including a 109-44 loss to #19 North Carolina in the
season opener.
GARDNER-WEBB IN THE BAHAMAS
In the Bahamas, Gardner-Webb is 0-2 overall with losses to then #1
Maryland (83-41) and Northwestern (59-34) back in 2006-07.
A RARITY FOR THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
GWU's 0-4 start this season is the Runnin' Bulldogs first 0-4 start
since 2005-06 when they started the year at 0-5.
LAST TIME OUT
Gardner-Webb got a career-high 12 points from freshman guard KiKi
Smith and 10 points from sophomore guard Jasmine Dale, yet led only
once in the Runnin' Bulldogs 67-46 road loss to Davidson last
Monday night. The Runnin' Bulldogs were 8-of-28 (29 percent) from
the floor in the first 20 minutes of play, while the Wildcats were
13-of-21 (62 percent) overall from the field and held a 9-4
advantage in points from the charity stripe. Both teams' came out
sluggish in the start of the second half, as the two combined for
only six points over the first five minutes of play, as Davidson
remained on top 41-23 with 15 minutes to go in the contest.
Gardner-Webb shot 32.7 percent (17-of-51) from the floor, while
Davidson shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54) from the field. The Runnin'
Bulldogs again were haunted by turnovers, as GWU committed 23
errors, five more than Wildcats.
GWU WILL RETURN HOME IN DECEMBER
Gardner-Webb will return home to host the Wofford College Terriers
on Saturday, December 3rd. The game, which is the first of a
double-tilt with the men's basketball team, is slated for a 4 p.m.
tip-off.
