
Gardner-Webb Wrestling to Compete at UB Quad Meet on Sunday in Buffalo, New York

Boiling Springs, N.C. - The Gardner-Webb wrestling team will head north to take on Buffalo, Pitt-Johnstown and Bloomsburg at the UB Quad Meet on Sunday afternoon at the Niagara County Community College in Buffalo, New York.
Gardner-Webb (1-2, 0-2 SoCon) will look to bounce back from a 41-2 loss to Appalachian State in the Runnin' Bulldogs' first-ever home Southern Conference match last week, in which GWU's lone win came at the heavyweight position by freshman Justin Kozera.
Kozera leads the Runnin' Bulldogs with an 8-3 overall record on the season and has won his last four bouts. Redshirt-junior Justin Guthrie is 8-7 overall on the season with seven of those wins coming at 165-pounds, while Ryan Medved and Alex Medved have posted four and three wins overall, respectively, on the year.
Buffalo (0-6, 0-1 MAC) will be searching for their first dual match victory of the season on Sunday, as the Bulls have suffered losses to Old Dominion, Navy, Lock Haven, Utah Valley, Michigan and Central Michigan.
The Bulls are led by Mark Lewandowski who is 18-6 overall at 157-pounds and Max Soria who is 13-8 overall at 125-pounds on the year. The Bulls' John-Martin Cannon (174) and Kevin Smith (141) have both posted 12 wins on the year overall in their respective weight classes.
Pitt-Johnstown (3-1), who is ranked No. 14 overall in the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Coaches Association rankings and has won three straight matches since dropping their season opener back in November to West Liberty University.
The Wildcats, who were ranked as high as eighth in the national poll, are led by the nationally ranked trio of grapplers in Ryan Link at 133-pounds, Jack Bachman at 141-pounds and Nathan Link at 149-pounds.
Bloomsburg (5-3, 0-0 EWL) has won three straight dual matches, with the wins coming over Sacred Heart, George Mason and East Stroudsburg, and took second-place overall at the PSAC Championships last weekend.
Overall the Huskies have nine wrestlers with double-digit wins highlighted by a team-high 14 wins by Richard Perry (197). Nick Wilcox (133), Kevin Hartnett (165) and Mike Dessino (174) all have 12 wins on the year overall, while four other grapplers have recorded 11 wins for the season.
The quad meet is slated for a 10 a.m. start time and will go all day. The Runnin' Bulldogs will open up against the host institution in Buffalo at 10 a.m. before taking on Pitt-Johnstown in the second match of the day at approximately 11:30-11:45 a.m.
Gardner-Webb will then wrap up the day of competition with a bout against Bloomsburg at approximately 1:15-1:30 p.m.
