December 14, 2011 | Men's Soccer
Buies Creek, N.C. - Gardner-Webb redshirt-junior Jon Ole Reinhardsen was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association 2011 University Division All-State Men's Soccer Team, announced today by the NCCSIA.
Reinhardsen was one of 12 student-athletes from six universities to receive the postseason state honor.
The defender, who was named to both the 2011 Big South All-Conference First-Team and the 2011 Big South Men's Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team, started and played in all 21 matches for the Runnin' Bulldogs on the year totaling 1851 minutes on the pitch. Reinhardsen was a key cog in GWU's eight wins and six shutouts, leading the defense all season long, as he played every single minute of 17 matches, including playing 100 minutes or more in five matches on the year.
Offensively, Reinhardsen totaled two goals on the year, both of which were game-winning goals, as he accounted for a goal in GWU's 3-0 win over Brevard College and a goal in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 2-0 win over High Point. Reinhardsen also recorded an assist in the Runnin' Bulldogs' 2-1 win at VMI. The GWU team captain, who was tabbed the Big South Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on October 25th, put eight shots on goal for the year and posted a .421 shots on goal percentage for the season.
NCAA College Cup runner-up Charlotte placed five players on the All-State squad, while UNC Greensboro had three all-state performers. Campbell, Elon, Gardner-Webb and High Point each had one representative.
