GWU Freshman Setter Heather Feldman Earns NCCSIA All-State Honors

Wilmington, N.C. - Gardner-Webb freshman setter Heather Feldman was one of seven student-athletes across the state named to the 2011 North Carolina College Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State volleyball team, announced on Thursday.
The only freshman to earn All-State honors, Feldman played in and started every set during her rookie campaign; leading the Runnin' Bulldogs in assists per set (9.59) on her way to earning Big South All-Freshman Team honors. The Eden, N.Y., native posted a team-high 1,103 assists on the season, which ranked second in the Big South Conference, and was also second on the team with 28 service aces and in digs with 272 as she recorded a team-high 13 double-doubles during the season.
Feldman's 1,103 assists ranks fifth in GWU's Division I single-season history, while her average of 9.59 assists per set, not only ranked second overall in the Big South, but also ranks fifth for a single-season in GWU's Division I record books.
The lone freshman on the GWU roster in 2011, Feldman was named to the Coastal Carolina Classic All-Tournament Team and also was tabbed the CRONS Brand Big South Freshman of the Week on October 31st by the League office.
Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The organization seeks to promote collegiate athletics and student-athletes at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCSSIA selects All-State teams for men's and women's soccer, volleyball, men's and women's basketball, softball and baseball on the College (Division II, III, NAIA) and University (Division I) levels. More than 650 student-athletes have been recognized on NCCSIA All-State teams since 2003.
