
Patterson, Perry To Play In FCS Senior Scout Bowl Saturday Afternoon

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Gardner-Webb standouts Marty Patterson and James Perry III will play for the South squad in the 2011 FCS Senior Scout Bowl on Saturday, December 17.
Kickoff is set for 1:00 pm at Doug Shaw Stadium, and will air live online by HTC Cable Channel 4 (www.HTCNetRacer.net). The second annual game will feature more than 80 players from the Football Championship Subdivision from around the country.
Patterson (Mt. Airy, Ga. / Habersham Central HS) earned All-Big South honors for the third time following the 2011 season. The 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker led the Big South with 102 total tackles and added 10.0 tackles for loss and a sack in just nine games played. He ranked No. 11 nationally in tackles per game, and averaged 13.0 hits per game in Big South play. Patterson finished 12th in school history with 323 total tackles and 33.0 tackles for loss.
Perry (Greensboro, N.C. / Dudley HS) was a four-time All-Big South Conference selection at receiver. The 6-0, 182-pounderfinished his career as the all-time leader in Big South history with 223 catches and was second in the league record book with 2,673 yards through the air. He caught 42 passes for 590 yards in 2011 - his fourth-straight season with at least 40 receptions in a Gardner-Webb uniform. Perry also tied a school-record with at least one catch in all 43 games he played for the Runnin' Bulldogs.
The duo will be the first Gardner-Webb seniors to participate in a postseason All-Star game since Dobson Collins suited up for the Texas vs. Nation Game following the 2008 season.
