SERIES VS. WOFFORD
GWU is only 2-4 versus the Wofford College Terriers since moving to NCAA Division I in 2000-01. The Runnin' Bulldogs have won the last two contests over the Terriers after dropping four straight to their regional Southern Conference foes from 2005-08. This marks the seventh straight season in which the Runnin' Bulldogs and the Terriers have met on the hardwood in non-conference action.
GWU AT HOME
Over the previous three seasons, GWU posted a stellar 36-8 (.818) record at home in the friendly confines of Paul Porter Arena. This year, however, the Runnin' Bulldogs are already 0-2 on the year at home.
A RARITY FOR THE RUNNIN' BULLDOGS
GWU's 0-6 start this season is the Runnin' Bulldogs worst start under head coach Rick Reeves in his eight seasons at the helm of the women's basketball program. The 0-6 start is GWU's worst start since beginning the 2003-04 at 0-10, the year prior to Coach Reeves' arrival to Boiling Springs, N.C.
LAST TIME OUT
Gardner-Webb battled the Southern California Trojans tight in the first 20 minutes of play, however, USC used 10 three-pointers, including seven in the second half, to down the Runnin' Bulldogs, 82-41, in the two teams' final game of the 2011 Junkanoo Jam in Freeport, Bahamas. For the game, USC outscored GWU 34-8 in points in the paint, 31-6 in points off turnovers and 16-3 in second-chance points, using their height, length and athleticism to their advantage over the Runnin' Bulldogs. The Trojans shot 54.2 percent (32-of-59) from the floor overall, while Gardner-Webb shot 36.6 percent (15-of-41) overall for the contest.
GWU WILL RETURN IN HOME AFTER THE NEW YEAR
Gardner-Webb will not return home until after the New Year, as GWU's next five games are all on the road. The Runnin' Bulldogs next home game is against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers on Saturday, January 7th, at 5 p.m. in Paul Porter Arena.
